The Billing Specialist is responsible for medical, dental, and behavioral health billing for various payers, including insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial carriers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Verify accuracy of billing data and correct errors to ensure clean claims are produced Perform corrections of patient registration information that includes, but is not limited to, patient demographics and insurance information Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely resolution of coding and billing issues Obtain and/or enter such documents as authorizations, financial agreements, and other ancillary documents, as necessary Maintain detailed records and document activities in patient accounts when appropriate or as required Resolve discrepancies in patient accounting records Monitor aging reports and take steps as necessary to guarantee timely payment of claims Coordinate and collect necessary information from staff, patients, or payers for claim adjudication Ensure that secondary bills and patient invoices are accurately generated and submitted on a timely basis Identify any overpayments and/or duplicate payments; investigate and resolve Process refund requests, in accordance with policies and procedures Contribute to the billing team through positive attitude, respectful interaction, innovative ideas, efficiency, and ethical behavior Familiar with using electronic health record (Ex.
Athena and NextGen) Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications One (1) year of customer service experience (preferred) One (1) or more years of experience in billing (preferred) Benefits and Compensation PCHS offers a wide variety of benefits through a customizable cafeteria plan.

Work Environment and Physical Demands With multiple locations and settings, PCHS’ work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee’s role.
Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand.
The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Employees may be exposed to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
