Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic (OPCC) is a volunteer medical, behavioral health and dental clinic in Port Angeles, WA.
OPCC is a free clinic, primarily serving low-income and unhoused patients living in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
*OPCC is looking to hire a full time Substance Use Disorder Professional who performs SUD assessments, performs outreach duties, and other tasks as assigned under the direction of the REdisCOVERY Administrative Director.
* - Full time, salaried position (salary DOE) - Generous PTO available - 12 paid holidays - Employer subsidized medical insurance offered after first 30 days of employment - The Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) provides assessment, diagnosis, consulting with clients about available treatment options, and counseling for clients with substance abuse disorders in accordance with the American Society of Addiction Medicine guidelines.
The SUDP will assist with the planning and coordination associated with counseling and educational programming services; implement and deliver prescribed services; coordinate on-going follow-up care services; make referrals to inpatient/outpatient treatment when indicated.
1 The ideal candidate should be able to independently conduct substance use disorder assessments for individuals identified as having a current or history of opiate use and identify the correct level of care placement.
The SUDP will work closely with Clallam County Jail staff, medical personnel, OPCC case management team, local treatment providers, and the Criminal Justice system (including attorneys and judges) to create an evidence-based, patient-centered, comprehensive, and integrated release plans.
The SUDP will assist in creating meaningful Individual Service Plans (ISPs) to promote safety and other desired outcomes.
The SUDP will provide initial diagnostic interviews for detainees to determine eligibility for MOUD programs, as well as follow up services once detainees have been released.
*Major Duties and Responsibilities:* - Diagnose clients with Substance Use Disorders using the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5) criteria and determine the appropriate risks and levels of care utilizing The ASAM Criteria Treatment Criteria for Addictive, Substance-Related and Co-Occurring Conditions.
- Provides diagnostic assessment to individuals in a jail setting who may have SUD.
- Be educated about all types of FDA approved medications for opioid use disorder.
- Maintains familiarity with community resources and their limitations, the procedures for making referrals, and the confidentiality requirements inherent to the referral process so that community resources are used to benefit clients.
- Prepare and maintain tracking reports and outcome summaries using computerized databases.
- Structure and administer re-entry programming to ensure re-entry services for incarcerated individuals are consistent with programs statewide.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from clients, staff, referral sources, and the public.
- Should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
- Be able to prioritize workload and activities and follow through on assigned tasks to assure completion in a timely manner.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between tasks quickly.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside contacts from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds; good diplomatic skills including strong conflict-resolution skills.

degree in Human Services field - Additional experience desired: experience in incarceration services, residential, outpatient treatment, or working with individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Advanced training in group process or educational programming design according to program needs.
