*Responsibilities * Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of communication disordered special education students.
Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students and modifications of instructional programs to meet individual student needs.
Participate with district staff to cooperatively develop effective strategies for improving student learning.
Provide positive assistance and guidance to a diverse population.
Maintain student records, including special education reports, sensitive confidential records, assessment data, essential learnings data, cumulative records, orders, and inventory, in a timely and orderly fashion.
Provide in-services to district staff regarding speech and language needs.
Conduct speech screenings for potential referral to special education assessment for determination of eligibility.
Consult with physicians and other agencies of the community regarding referrals and mutual exchange of information.
Work cooperatively with district staff in an atmosphere of cooperation and collegiality.
Provide speech and language therapy in direct and consultative models to students through a variety of mediums, including video conferencing and tele-therapy.
Uphold and assist in enforcing administrative regulations and board policy.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Participate in district or OESD Child find events.
Perform other duties as assigned *QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS* Masters’ Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
Valid Washington State ESA Certificate for speech/language pathologist.
Valid Restraint Certification.
Experience equivalency or possession of clinical competence certificate (or ability to obtain).
Experience with special education programs preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to build and maintain appropriate and positive relationships with students.
Ability to actively participate in a team environment.
Ability to take initiative.
Must possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills.
Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills.
Ability to keep confidentiality.
Ability to use multiple communication and technology systems (email, computers, cameras, and smart boards).
Must have a working knowledge of a variety of research-based effective therapeutic strategies, including an emphasis on skills aimed at assisting special needs students.
Must have strong coursework and background in evaluations both norm and criterion referenced, learning strategies, language, speech, and communication.
Knowledge of new technology and an ability to incorporate that into job skills.
Ability to support staff, program, and school goals.
Ability to commit to fostering a positive attitude with students, self, and others.
Ability to travel; reliable transportation; appropriate auto insurance.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Significant: handling paperwork, use of computer and phone, looking at computer monitor, ability to adjust focus, driving for extended periods Frequent: standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, vision, repetitive motion, use of fax machine, color vision, peripheral/depth perception, moderate noise levels Occasional: climbing, kneeling, squatting, crawling, reaching above the shoulder, lifting up to 20 pounds, carrying, pushing/pulling, use of calculator, exposure to moving parts, very quiet noise levels, operation of technology such as computers, smart phones, and tablets *LEAVE & BENEFITS* Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, and FSA Insurance provided by SEBB Retirement: DRS Retirement Plans.
