Interim DEI ManagerSalary: $67,047 - $73,752Classification: Administrative ExemptReports to: Interim Vice President of DEIThe Interim DEI Manager position is a leader who fosters a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and works to create a shared understanding of the connection between a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture for student and employee success.
The DEI Program Manager builds and strengthens trusting and collaborative relationships to support intersectional equity work within and across the College; develops and implements programs that promote and sustain DEI; assists the Interim Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VPDEI) on strategic DEI initiatives; serves as a resource to students, colleagues, employees, stakeholders, and the general public; collaborates with College and community partners on DEI-focused projects; oversees DEI learning opportunities and engagements for the College; and manages and plans DEI community events.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Management and DEI Event Planning Partners with internal and external stakeholders to oversee events sponsored and hosted by the DEI Office.
Plans and executes events including program logistics, on-campus/on-site event management, contracting and payment.
Communicates and keeps internal leaders, external partners, speakers, vendors, students, and employees updated on event status and changes with vendors, speakers, and guests.
Manages the creation and distribution of marketing materials such as fliers, invitations, and social media posts.
With approval, negotiates contracts as needed and arrange for payment.
Assist VPDEI with management of budgets and payment of department expenses, and staff supervision, for the DEI office.
May supervise the DEI staff, including classified and student employees.
May supervise the work of temporary and project employees.
Assists VPDEI with DEI Strategic Plan Assists with management of data gathering processes; analysis and data presentation, to include quantitative data and qualitative focus group data.
Assists with the development, implementation, and assessment of the College's strategic DEI plan and DEI plan initiatives.
DEI Program Oversight Builds and strengthens trusting and collaborative relationships to support intersectional equity work within and across the College, the community, peer networks, and with other key stakeholders.
Develops, reviews, recommends, and implements sustainable programs, processes, policies, and practices that promote and sustain DEI in support of students and employees.
Serves as a trusted intersectional equity planning, facilitator, and advisor to College employees on topics of higher education policy and infrastructure to support the VPDEI and college Executive Leadership.
Ensures progress on DEI-related projects and initiatives across the College.
Works with stakeholders to develop effective tools and strategies to embed performance measures and other forms of accountability related to DEI.
Monitors project tasks and timelines; coordinates data collection; and develops and delivers progress reports and updates as needed, including presentations to the Board of Education.
Aids, advises, coaches, and provides consultation, sometimes of a confidential or sensitive nature, to students, colleagues and College stakeholders regarding cultural competency and the development of resources, programs, processes, and policies utilizing a DEI lens.
Acts as a resource to College councils, departments and divisions to identify and mitigate inequitable impacts of College policies, programs, projects, and services for students and employees.
In coordination with campus stakeholders, leads, guides, convenes, facilitates, and oversees DEI committees/groups.
Recruits members; ensures committee projects and initiatives are aligned with the DEI Office, College priorities and strategic plans; and develops agendas and meeting materials as needed.
Represents and promotes the services of the DEI Office to external community organizations, partners and on internal College committees and groups.
Coordinates and facilitates equity audits.
Assists the VPDEI in overseeing compliance, implementation, tracking, and reporting related to Washington State DEI funds; identifies, conducts, and/or arranges for training and development opportunities to foster the ability of employees to meet cultural competency standards as defined by state requirements.
Write relatable and accurate statements for the DEI Office about important societal events that affect historically underrepresented populations.
Learning Development Builds intersectional social justice awareness across the College through the creation and provision of learning opportunities, inclusive engagement strategies, training, tools, and resources.
Oversees DEI learning opportunities for the College; conduct training or learning opportunities; design and create training content; facilitate and/or deliver workshops and presentations.
Partners with the Human Resources Division, college centers, college stakeholders, and subject matter experts to transform the college through learning and inclusive engagement strategies.
Assesses community learning needs and determines optimal delivery method(s).
Creates visual tools to map and track DEI work across the organization; provides analysis of potential impacts on decision-making; ensures metrics support accountability to desired goals and outcomes; manages data gathering processes to keep the DEI Office and VPDEI, Executive Leadership, and the Board of Education informed on data trends and anticipated outcomes of various decisions.
Recruits, trains, leads, and coordinates the work of employees who will serve as DEI learning facilitators responsible for assisting in the delivery of training and learning sessions across the College.
Within established limits, solicits and selects vendors/consultants for learning or training content and delivery as needed.
Ensures feedback measures are in place to evaluate participant experiences.
