The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Forest School Instructor Lead to join our team!

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Forest School Instructor Lead, you will help plan, organize, host, and run various program areas in a safe and customer friendly manner for Homeschool Youth, Outdoor Preschool, School Aged Field Trips, Day Camp and Special Events throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead teacher for preschool, homeschool, school aged field trip participants and/or lead youth and adult teambuilding and challenge course activities.
Host special events and open houses.
Write weekly lesson plans for Outdoor Preschool, Jr.
Naturalist Programs, Day Camp, or Rental Groups.
Ensure that camp areas are ready for use prior to camper arrival.
Know and enforce rules as necessary to ensure safe use of program areas.
Assist with the supervision of youth and staff as directed.
Maintain good public relations with participants and fellow staff, representing the best interests of the YMCA while providing excellent customer service at every opportunity.
Be familiar with emergency procedures.
If qualified, administer basic first aid as required; if not, direct participant to director, or designated first aid staff.
Make sure the director is informed of any accidents, and contribute to the completion of accident or incident reports as necessary.
Forest School Instructors attend YMCA Camp Lake Helena Summer Camp, Fall or Spring Staff Trainings, or a Climbing Wall, Low or High Ropes Course Training.
Assist with the training of camp staff and day camp counselors.
Qualifications:
A minimum age of 21.
Two years of experience working with kids age 3-5 is preferred.
Knowledge of YMCA Camp Lake Helena's operation procedures, especially the supervision and operation of program areas or the ability to acquire that knowledge.
The ability to effectively communicate with staff and participants of all ages.
The ability to demonstrate a friendly, courteous and professional manner while working with members, parents, guests and staff and the ability to understand, articulate and enforce YMCA policies and procedures in a positive way.
Current first aid and CPR certifications from nationally recognized organizations or willingness to obtain within 30 day of hire.
Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.

Wage: $18.
00 to $20.
00 per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
