JOB DESCRIPTION: Job Title: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver: NEMT for COVID Transportation, Vaccine Transportation, and other contracted services.
Classification: All shifts available – Days, Nights, Weekends, Part Time, and Full Time.
Job Highlights: Competitive pay Incentive pay for COVID Transportation - pays $25/hour+ Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits Sick leave and holiday pay *** MUST PROVIDE CURRENT DRIVER ABSTRACT - UPLOAD WITH APPLICATION OVERVIEW/PURPOSE: Hiring drivers to provide transportation for COVID-19 positive passengers, groups to vaccination facilities, and other contracted transportation for non-covid passengers.
Around the Sound (ATS) has been providing transportation for passengers testing positive for the COVID-19 virus, successfully, for more than 120 days.
Currently five drivers have provided service for more than 350 covid positive passengers, without transmitting the virus to themselves, their family members, other passengers, or other employees.
ATS has been transporting thousands of passengers and no employee or passenger has transmitted or been infected with the virus.
Our training program, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and vehicle cleaning protocol have proven to be 100% successful, leading to safe, clean, and reliable services for all passenger types.
ATS has recently secured contracts that include the transportation for passengers that have tested positive for COVID-19 as well as transportation for passengers to travel to facilities to receive COVID vaccinations, so we are seeking to hire individuals that are willing to provide transportation for passengers with COVID-19 virus as well as for our other contracts for non-covid passengers.
Primary Responsibilities: The Vehicle Operator/Driver’s primary purpose is to operate a passenger vehicle in a safe, dependable, professional, and timely manner while assisting passengers to various destinations.
The assigned vehicle may be lift-equipped, shuttles, mini-buses, vans, or sedans.
Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Operate Company vehicles to transport passengers to their destinations on time.
Operate wheelchair lifts as needed.
Assist passengers when boarding and disembarking vehicles and to and from the vehicles including the ability to maneuver passenger and wheelchair over a 6” curb and up typical wheelchair ramps.
Relate to, and handle various passenger personalities and recognize passenger needs.
Maintain and wear the appropriate company uniform and maintain a clean and professional appearance.
Effectively communicate with the dispatch center staff.
Competently utilize assigned GPS and mapping tools to ensure the most expeditious and safe routes.
Communicate access and/or other service issues (safety, etc.
) to supervisor.
Reports accidents/incidents immediately to dispatcher, requesting police or ambulance service as needed.
Assists injured persons from first-aid kit until these services arrive.
Completes company accident/incident report.
Maintain passenger records via the driver tablet.
Maintain vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports.
Keep vehicle’s interior and exterior clean.
Responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Responsible for keeping up to date on required training.
Requirements Required Education & Experience: • High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Minimum of 3 years driving experience.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license • 3 years of clean driving record • Successful completion of required company provided training program.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Demonstrated excellent attendance record • Must be able to assist in lifting clients onto a stretcher • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• The ability to maneuver 300 lbs (passenger and wheelchair) over a 6” curb and up typical wheelchair ramps.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time, walking, pushing/pulling, stooping, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting to 50 pounds.
• The position requires finger dexterity, sense of touch, gripping with fingers and hands, ability to see and to hear voice conversations.
