81 El Camino in good-to-great condition for sale.
With a little work there’s great resale potential.
The good: rebuilt V8 engine with extremely low mileage (less than 3000 miles), runs and drives great, airbag suspension offers smooth ride, mostly classic interior/parts, registered collector vehicle plates, clean paint and body, Cragar wheels, decent interior.
The bad: needs new battery (still starts and runs but needs a jump if it sits too long), some of the chrome has minor rust patches, gas gauge not accurate, no A/C, no radio (not sure if speakers work but I’d guess the sound isn’t great if they are working), minor dent in the bumper.
Areas for improvement: these aren’t really issues, but they were things I wanted to improve but never got around to.
I think modernizing the interior and dash would go a long way towards boosting the overall value.
When I got the car there was a small dent in the bumper, it was never an issue to me but it was something that could be fixed or swapped relatively easily.
I also wanted to beef up the power to make it a real monster (it’s already quite powerful), the only thing I was worried about is if the axle could handle the extra power.
Updating the sound system or fixing the AC would also be huge, as this thing is really fun to drive on a warm summer day.
Reason for selling: baby on the way and the money would help.
Also the place we’re moving into doesn’t have a big enough garage, so it feels wrong to let it sit outside.
A lot of the “bad” are relatively easy fixes for someone with the time.
Honestly it’s a bit of a dream project car, since it’s already good-to-go and any small (or large) improvements really help the resale value.
Since this is a car that will only increase in value over time I’m fairly firm on the price, but it has sentimental value to me (grandpa’s car) so I’m somewhat flexible if it’s going to a good home.
