Selling my late father's beautifully restored 1966 F-250 Camper Special, Custom Cab.
It pains me to do this, as we've had it as long as I've been alive.
But now that my dad is gone, I just don't have the resources to keep it maintained the way it deserves.
I'm unable to drive it myself, and even if I could, I don't think I'd be brave enough to do so! I'd be too worried about breaking something!
I may technically be the third owner, but this remains "my Dad's truck".
Winner of the Best Truck award at Viking Fest 2003, "Ride of the Week" on Ford Truck Enthusiast forums, and frequent runner in the Kingston Fourth of July Parade.
It deserves to be seen at many more car shows and elsewhere!
$35,000 OBO.
Title is clean and in-hand.
I can meet up pretty much anytime in Kingston to show the truck.
I'll need to wait until payment clears the bank before transferring the title, but will draw up a written contract for that, so no worries there.
See below for my late father's notes on the truck and its restoration, which should hopefully answer whatever questions you have.
I'll miss that truck, and I feel like a part of my dad goes with it.
And as much as I miss my dad, I'm glad he won't have to see this truck drive away, he'd be really sad to watch her go.

The Truck Info
I purchased this truck in 1982, and I'm only the 2nd owner.
It was restored about 20 years ago, and babied ever since.
She has 186,000 ACTUAL miles on her.
And has NEVER let me down.
.
(I think she loves me as much as I love her).
.
The restoration was mostly completed my me.
(paint and engine rebuild exception).
The restoration took 3 years finding many OEM parts by stopping at every wrecking yard I passed.
.
my goal was to restore to as close to original as possible, and I think that was accomplished to better than 95% .
she's (I refer to her as part of the family) is numbers matching through out the entire power train.
.
THE EXTERIOR
All exterior trim is original removed, polished and clear coated .
Including the “arrow head grill” .
The front bumper is the original bumper straightened and re chromed.
The rear bumper (called a “farmers bumper”) I'm told was an option sold only in the west.
(Note the wrap around return) it's original, straightened, and powder coated.
.
the rear view “camper mirrors” are original.
The truck bed is original but repaired prior to Rhino lined, to repair/prevent rust damage.
The tailgate is not original, and is actually a quality replica from a 1967.
(1966 was not available at the time}.
The FORD letters are slightly smaller, but in the 20 years since restoration NO ONE has EVER noticed the difference! The paint is done with the original colors (Rangoon Red, and Wimbledon White) a couple small blemishes do exist, but are hardly noticeable, and if not pointed out, never seen (she shines proud).
The wheels, as you can see, are not original for safety reasons.
.
.
The original wheels were “split rims” and dangerous.
Most tire shops will not even deal with them.
The Yosemite Sam "Back Off" mud flaps were on the truck when I purchased it over 40 years ago.
They are Heavy Duty mud flaps, and are no longer available.
(smaller and cheaper ones are, but not even close to these) and I think they just fit the personality of the truck.
.
.
THE INTERIOR
The bench seat has been rebuilt (new padding).
I had a new cover made to match the original, it is virtually exactly the same as when she rolled off the assembly line.
.
(please notice the embossed “FORD” with lightning bolts) on the back rest.
The fabric “zipper pockets” are original.
Padded dash is stock with the custom cab package.
The radio, although looks stock, is actually a “Retro” reproduction, and has all the bells and whistles of a newer system.
The speakers were added in the doors and match the paint job exactly.
The interior was also painted Rangoon Red, And the dash Wimbledon White to match the original.
A new headliner was installed to match the original.
The passenger vanity mirror is stock.
And the floor mat has been replaced as original.
THE ENGINE
The 352 engine(professionally rebuilt) is stock, including the oil bath air cleaner but the carburetor was upgraded, and the valve covers replaced because the quality of the original one was not good.
.
(besides they look much better!).
The “points” were replaced with a Petronics electronic ignition which fits nicely within the stock cap.
Other than that, the rest of the engine compartment is all stock.
.
.
OTHER FACTS
This truck is truly stock.
(with minor stated exceptions)
The break system is “Drum” all the way around, and works flawlessly.
The steering is “Manual” but easy to operate with a little practice.
(The clutch plate was upgraded, and makes shifting easy)
Twin 16 gallon fuel tanks (32 gallons total).
Transmission is 4 on the floor, with first gear considered the “Granny Gear”.
It's amazing to drive, and does not have a rattle anywhere.
the exhaust puts out the perfect sound for the truck, (sounds mean if you want to impress in natural, and silent going down the road).
ACCOLADES
Car show: “Best Truck” trophy.
Viking Fest 2003.
Ford Truck Enthusiast “Ride of the Week” award.
Frequent runner in the Kingston Fourth of July parade.
If you own this truck, get ready for "Looky-Loos", she draws a lot of attention!
I'm only selling this truck because I got old, have a few health problems, and soon will not be able to give her the attention (and love) she deserves.
She is “one of a kind” I search the internet occasionally and never find a 1966 F-250 Camper Special, Custom Cab that compares.
(give it a try)
