Estate Find :
Dating to circa 1860's, this is NOT a reproduction but a genuine French second Empire brass fireman helmet, in untouched condition.
As you can see, it is missing its chin strap , badge , etc.
The (later) red feather plume is for ceremonial use and denotes rank.
As you can see from the photos it shows dents here and there from active service but no perishing of the brass surface.

Came with a story [ Fact or Fiction - Real or Imagined !] estate host [ owner] stated this was a prop used in a movie .

I have found no other with similar features or ones that have stamped numbers , to date.
Kinda well used condition- ****Please See Pictures **** dings , dents , metal pulling away from weld at lower back of crown
Has 335 5*3 1858 Stamped on body above back bill
This amazing antique helmet has a leather insert intact
